As a child when we are sad/unhappy with anything we have natural tools to get over it. i.e. Physchic Entropy. They do not need external things necessarily to get happy.
- Creative Imagination (Visual): Create imaginary characters and stories and use it to get happy. Remember moments of happiness - positive recall or even create imaginary places to be happy.
- Write: Write imaginative stories or things that interest you. Be it cartoons, people for me it was cricketers and sportspeople and created imaginary matches and make teams. Imaginary drawings about places, things you liked.
- Run, dance, movement: Didn't sit for long and create excess lethargy and negative energy. Running, jumping, dancing spontaneously, Singing
- A special personal tool: be it movement of fingers, legs in special way repeatedly to focus or move away from mundane world. This helps children get out of psychic entropy.
- Vent out: Cry, laugh, shout, speak out when overwhelmed with emotions and cannot control it. Easily vent out emotions
- A child lives spontaneously and is freer and we adults have created a false sense of boundaries around us which limit our emotions, behavior create stresses in our life. As we stop becoming natural. People in tribal societies have create rituals to become spontaneous but in civilized society we live in a orthodox manner limiting and constricting our behaviors.
We use simple tools to live more naturally.
Spontaneity though needs to be balanced with discipline in adult world as we have more responsibilities some which cannot be ignored.
Spontaneity is not going with the flow, but being in a flow and being aware of it.
Daily habits which makes us centered can allow our soul to be in a more spontaneous and natural state without losing total control.
One needs to identify what activities make one go into flow state easier and give time to such activities regularly.
Humans, specially in the current era mostly behave like machines or automatons. Going through chores mechanically. It is like animals reacting to inbuilt reactionary mechanism which responds to stimuli in same fashion each time it sees or feels it e.g our neighbours dog which at the slightest hint of any monkey nearby, gets restless and starts barking and running. Here it seems one is responding spontaneously but this is automatic response to sense mechanism and not spontaneity.
Spontaneous could mean being impulsive, unplanned and mechanical.
Yet some great artists and other geniuses perform their extraordinary tasks spontaneously. Yet they are not impulsive. They have better understanding of things which mechanical conscious mind cannot decipher or understand. They have better connection to higher consciousness/ intelligence due to awakened sections of brain.
A child’s mind is not caught up in mechanical patterns which engulf adults thinking process. That’s why they forget pain faster and don’t brood over things too long.
When one calms the senses and mind and learns to disconnect from them one can move beyond mental and sense pulls not a more natural state which I call state of ‘spontaneous flow’ where radio static thoughts give way to connection with creative mind of the universe which is not mechanical at all.
Graceful movements with attention done repeatedly in rythm, allow one to move to deep flow states of consciousness.
It also creates positive habits.
There will be an urge to break the rythm and stop it, if at that moment(s) you ignore the distraction, and be deeply present, you can deepen the practice and go to the deep states with flow of the great energy.
One thing which also greatly hampers our spontaneity is social customs and rules. Adults are expected to be serious, mature unlike children. This can be a serious burden as it constricts us and leads to stress, blockages as we cannot naturally express or release our emotions. We must stop being too conservative and learn to speak, move more spontaneously like a child does and not be afraid of what is expected as per social norms. Some great saints like Neem Karoli baba, Devraha Baba had childlike spontaneity in them.
So let’s Start being more natural and spontaneous by disconnecting from senses and tapping higher intelligence and not be bound too much by restrictive social norms.
